Probably, considering he was pushed down the garbage shoot and ended up in the sewers with the toadstools. Did I forget to mention they have sharp teeth?

they shoulda had a alternate ending showing him running but falling to his death just like the first mushroom/toadstool thing that jumped off.

I don't think he died, despite what it implies. If Dick Nelson could get out of that situation earlier in the movie, Spengo sure as hell probably could.
Of course, this might be wishful thinking from a Spengo fan.

I think the difference is that Dick actually ran for it when the mushrooms came. All Spengo did was lay there and scream his head off.
I'm almost certain they gobbled him down.

Well seeing as though Spengo is/was actually a resident of the planet, he should've been familiar with Lubs-Lubs, so he should've known to run like hell.
Or if he DID attempt to escape, he may have caught a dead end.
BUT had it been a black guy (no racism intended), he would've tried to fight em off. Like "Aw hell naw, y'all lil beep aint finna eat me!" LMAO
