You don't understand? Maybe you're just a shallow person, who doesn't realize that it might be about more than just looks.
Ever see Dennis Kucinich's wife? She's about a head taller, 30 years younger and pretty easy on the eyes. -

One thing to remember is that you get the sense Vinny and Lisa have been together for a long time. I always assumed at least a decade.
There is that scene where they are at that cabin; Vinny is reading and studying for his court case, while Mona Lisa is pacing back and forth on the porch. This is the scene where she stomps her foot and complains about her biological clock.
In that scene, I believe she says to Vinny something along the lines of: "We agreed that we will get married when you win your fist case. Well, I have been waiting ten long years now."
Doesn't she say something like that? -

In all Honestly, Charisma trumps pure looks 9/10 times.
Vinny worked with her for years. Even if she dismissed him at first purely on looks, give a guy with his charisma enough time to work on her, and
As pointed out, by the time of the movie, they've been together 10 years, and as others have mentioned, the chemistry is what makes them a couple.
For me, the leaky tap scene sums everything up. He argues because that's his nature, she argues with him as he is challenging her, and they both get off on it. -

people need to stop assuming a girl would be with a guy only cos he has money. and why would a guy be with a less than average looking girl? whats the excuse there? it DOES happen, yet no one assumes SHE must be rich. just so cliche and old school to think that way

Excellent point. Vinny did indeed have charisma. -

Agreed, 100%
I've met some incredibly, unrealistically/too handsome for words (physically) men that were just a major snoozefest. Couldn't carry on a conversation to save their lives (strikes me as relying on their looks to get by)
As insanely, ridiculously hot as they were - I found them unattractive quickly because they had 0 personality.
Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. -

Its actually very likely
- He worked in her fathers garage, so there was no competition it was likely him, her and maybe her father and that was it.
- She was clearly a tom boy and thus does not follow normal conventions.

do you think that Bill( Ralph Macchio's character) would have been a better match for her than Vinny? just curious.
In real life, I would bet that Marisa Tomei and Ralph Macchio are very close in age. My guess is that they were both born in early (maybe mid) 1960's.
But, in this film, they played down Macchio's age. He was playing a college student. And, with his baby face, he could easily pass for a high school student.
Also, he seemed naive; Mona Lisa (Marisa Tomei) was more worldly (i.e., street smart).
