I was into some cop shows, such as this one, then I pretty much gave up on them after what happened IRL with G. Floyd.
The only ones I still care for are Columbo and Barney Miller where they treat everyone, even the suspects, with respect and don't abuse them.
As for Blue, you brought up Caruso.
Ever notice that he acts the same in every role on every show he is in?
He tries to underplay it but he ends up overacting!
He thought his **** didn't stink so he leaves and turns out to fail in movies.
At least that is why I think he left. -

i hated caruso from the first time i saw his red headed face in Rambo: first blood. my hate only got worse when he was a irish gang leader on Hill street blues.
but i was wrong. the guy's a very good actor.
i liked denis franz- also from HSB- and jimmy smits.
kim delaney can handcuff me and police brutalize me any time my Miranda rights notwithstanding.
i didnt like the token beaner: he was a whiny negative. turtano? turtado?
