They tried to get us to care about Caine like he done something noble by protecting little anthony but in reality all he would have done is draw fire to the child instead of ducking and running the opposite way it was unreal ..

For the way Caine was in this film, he deserved to die like he did. But that was cool he saved that kid from certain death. No matter how much of a piece of excrement Caine was in this film, that was on time what he did for that kid.

I have a few issues with the movie but that ain't one of them.
Remember the entire movie he let you in on his internal struggles and that there was at least a struggle, with ODog, no struggle:) and almost every moment he was with Jada's Character (can't recall her name) and her son, he was a lot more "Normal"(?)?
With the drug dealing, jacking, and selling, not seeing how they/directors had him save the kid in order for us to LIKE him more? It seemed quite appropriate with the character to me. He even said (to ODog once) "I ain't shooting/killing no kids or Old People" or something like that.
So why wouldn't he save one he actually knew and cared for?
My main issue with the movie, growing up similar and I've told MANY a folks that haven't/didn't grow up similar. "I/We don't curse as much as they did in the movie." Cursing, NWords, talking about sex, being around drugs, guns, parties, yes that much cursuing, I disagree.
A friend and I took a neighbor to the hospital once (gun shot, his wife shot him) and though the service was similar, not a curse word came out of our mouths to get him treated.
We were even questioned by the cops at the hospital about it and though I was POd at being accused, no cursing. "Yes, we shot him and brought him to the hospital, that makes a lot of sense Officer!" is the worse it got.

Each time i watch i am sad at the end for Cain.He was finally on his way "out"of the hood
to a much better "real life i call it,with Roni, and the little boy." I love this movie.
I did think he genuinely love anthony, and jada pinkett character Roni. Just was a lil too late,"by time he realize it,and i like the scene anyhow, even if caine did not die at the end like that." At least he passed on saving a lil boy,and that imo redeem him.
          Peace
          Josh

I feel same. Definitely showed us, when it came down to it Josh, he wanted to see the more child have a "chance to live a good life one day even more than his own at the ending scene." I really feel bad for him. But it was his "Destiny some say, even since when this first came out in 1990's, and some still think that." I don't know. I just hate that sharif(kevin) had died. I was sad to see that.
            Great movie.

While they did use many swear words, they rarely talked about sex at all. Remember it's an American movie with no adult only rating. (?)

Do you really think Caine saving Anthony was really a ploy to make us care about Caine? Maybe him trying to save Anthony was just how the story went. He saved Anthony because he genuinely cared about him and Ronnie. To say that he drew fire to the kid doesnt make sense cuz those guys were not aiming to avoid any certain person. Three different shooters, they were just shooting and didn't care who they hit. They knew where Caine was and didn't care who else they shot, that's just how a driveby goes. Caine did a lot of things and deserved to be punished but saying he deserved to die is just evil.

Caine was a product of his environment unfortunately. Growing up the way he did what chance did he have? Both of his parents were dead (I doubt he would have been any different had they lived). He was raised by grandparents who were too old to be raising a young black man in that environment. Ronnie saw potential in Caine she was a little bit older and wiser than Caine and wanted him to come full-circle like Pernell had in prison.
Unfortunately an 18 year old black man is not going to listen to anyone trying to tell him anything about life. Trust me, I used to be one. At 18 I was a product of my environment, but I still managed to graduate college, have 0 kids, and refrain from a criminal record at 29 years old today. But, don't think I didn't smoke weed, skip school, drive my convertible way too fast and sneak into girl's bedrooms. Kids are going to make mistakes. Caine's mistakes were magnified because what was normal in his environment seems over the top to us. Yes he sold drugs and robbed people because that is the way he grew up; surrounded by the negative.
However, I had parents who were on me tough about making the right choices. I lost my father to a heart attack when I was 21 years old. Like Caine's father my father was a drug dealer but he never glorified it or let me see any of it. He wanted me to do better than him and expected nothing less. Caine wasn't a horrible person he was just misguided and immature. At 18 I can't say Caine was a bad person. He could have changed.

I feel bad for Caine's friend the (Muslim guy). Hanging around the wrong sort of people got him killed.
                    He was an innocent lad!
Caine was a BEEP for doing all of the devilment that he did.
For a second I thought the event when they capped those guys that killed his Cousin was going to be an isolated incident. 😞
