    I think most movies made during the 90s haven't aged well, especially the most prestigious ones.
    I just watched this movie for the first time, but I don't think it's a good adaptation since you can clearly feel the writer wanted to cover as many topics as possible but didn't manage to give them a proper treatment or more depth. I wish I cared more about Stevens' personal/love life but I simply didn't. I wish the misplacement of his loyalty were more heart-breaking but it is not. The screenwriter wanted to give those two aspects the same amount of time, I understand it, but it has no weight for me.
    (Unlike Nick Hornby's adaptation of the good book with a bad/boring/unineresting ending "Brooklyn")
