Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Wayne's World 2

    5535 — 11 years ago(January 21, 2015 08:06 PM)

I watched both movies again just the other day, after having not seen them in years, and the original far outweighs this one.
First of all, this felt like half a rehash of the original to me, with the new producer trying to get with Casandra, and with the concert "We're not worthy" redo. The crowd surfing scene was fun, but redoing the we're not worthy felt like they couldn't come up with something new. Maybe they will have them do the same for part three, then it won't be as bad, but to do it again a second time, kind of felt like a been there done that moment. The first movie did it better, with Alice putting his hand out as if to say "Kiss the ring" lol.
Also, I was surprised to see that Mike Meyers wasn't as good this time around, and for part of the movie he came across as non-engaged to me. He was terrific and full of life in the first movie, but here he felt a bit dull, and the script wasn't as good either, so he had less quality material to work with.
The movie was still fun, just not as well done or as well written as the first, and Mike didn't seem as interested this time around.
I laughed a good twenty times while watching the original again, and appreciated how clever it was, whereas for the sequel I laughed maybe 8 times, and only appreciated a few clever moments. The original had so much more to it, but the sequel felt like a duller half copy of the it, and was less consistently good. Casandra goes to marry the producer, just because she realized Wayne had spied on her??? Seems forced.
These are the only moments I chuckled at or enjoyed:
    The drive through scene
The crowd surfing moment (Loved the pizza dude behind them and the lamb lol)
The nerds approaching Wayne and Garth and one of them telling how his mom drove him there LOL.
Garth getting his tiny underwear handed to him!
Garth levitating when kissing Basinger was brilliant! His dancing too!
    The Albino eye guy
The dubbed voice of Casandra's father
Some of the casting of the side characters was spot on!
    Gordon street and Heston
Why do they come to me to die lol
Wayne's first dream in the desert
Farley's line "Because I got no place to goooo!"
YMCA was pretty funny as well
So, it wasn't all bad, just not as well put together as the original, and I though Mike was better in the first one.
I really hope they do a part three, as that could be great!
