I thought that there were some relatively funny parts in this movie, that actually really made me laugh. If Chris Farley were in it though, this would have been great,it still would have had a horrible reception yes, but so did Beverly Hills Ninja, and that movie was funny because of Chris Farley, not because of the writing, jokes or direction.

You're not actually suggesting Farley in John Candy's role, are you? Because I've got to seriously disagree with that. Farley might have been a good clown, but Candy was also an actor as well as a comedian. Not to dis Farley, because he was good in his own respects, but he really wasn't on the same level and this would have been an entirely different type of comedy had he been in it.

Chris Farely was a fat drug addict who was loud and was never funny. I don't know why people keep insisting that he was ever funny or would be good for any sort of film role.

Agreed. Bizarre how popular the unfunny Farley is.

Movies that Chris Farley are in are movies that the whole purpose is to be a vehicle to his style of comedy. (Mostly physical)
Canadian Bacon was NOT a movie which was centered around any of the actors in it. Sure each actor provided their touch to their characters, but the characters themselves and the statements/characterization was what makes the movie funny.
Problem is many watchers (especially younger ones) are likely to miss the real humour, when most comedies today are reduced to just simple one-liners usually with sexual overtunes.

As a kid, I use to confuse John Candy and Chris Farley. I don't know why. They sort of look alike. But not really.

What a ridiculous idea for a thread. The OP obviously has no taste, and is probably a preteen. Farley could barely act his way out of a paper bag, compared to Candy. Please. Go eat your Skittles.
If I begin to die, please take this off my head. This is not the way I wish to be remembered.

I like Chris Farley, in some respects, but michael moore writing for and directing chris farley would be like asking jimi hendrix to play a tamborine.
"we got reports of people getting stoned and playing spaceman in the streets" "yeah, us"
