- the second time The Mask appears, after brushing his teeth and shaving, he checks his pockets only to find he's cashless, to which he says "can't do the scene if you don't have the green"
alright I totally agree with that statement. However: did he really have to rob the bank and steal all that money ? He probably only needed like $10,000 maybe $20,000 tops. Instead, he must have taken like half a million Dollars!!! What was his backup plan? What was he planning to do with all the remaining cash?? - After The Mask exits the bank just following the robbery, the police shows up and starts and a shooting erupts between them and "The Doctor"'s crew. Why did the crew have to start shooting at the police? Up to that point, they hadn't even done anything what were they guilty about ? They should have claimed ignorance, spend the night in jail and be free the next morning on no charges. If anything, for carrying weapons without license.

- He didn't have to rob the bank. He could have just magicked up a load of money. However the film had already established that he was not well-treated at the bank where he works so when he has the power to rob it then he does so. He probably didn't have plans for how to spend it. He just wanted money, knew how to get it and took it.
- They were known criminals standing outside a bank that had just been robbed whilst the alarm was blaring. Given their prints won't be on anything inside the bank, it may well be that they could have avoided being found guilty if they surrendered, but surely it's understandable that they'd get into a gun battle - especially since the real culprit had made such a quick getaway.

I haven't seen this movie in a long time. Id like to watch it again if I can find it.
- But from my memory, his Mask character was definitely NOT the type to think things through, consequences, repercussions etc.
- Typical 90s style movie villains. The audience didn't tend to look at characters in the same analytical way as we do today. Things and actions didn't have to make sense nearly as much then.

- As someone else mentioned, it's quite possible that he wanted to get back at his boss by robbing his own bank and taking more than he needed. That or he just wanted a lot of money for himself. (As we later see, he hid all that cash in his closet.) But the fact is, Stanley behaved like a cartoon character as The Mask, so he didn't need many reasons to steal all that money. Besides, he clearly had fun doing it!
- In the 90's, bad guys like the doctor weren't going to take their chances with people who had the authority to kill a minority.
Yes it was a dumb thing to do.
You want something corny? You got it!
