Scene that inspired the dance scene in Pulp Fiction

I find that dance scene in PF to be vastly overrated.
They got the trophy for that?
Of course they did because it is in the script that they did.
We have seen Travolta dance a hell of a lot better than that in SNF and Cowboy.
They prob. put the brakes on him because Thurman is a lousy dancer, is my guess. -

Of course, it's in the script. You are watching a movie, and that means the dance contest is a part of the story.
They prob. put the brakes on him because Thurman is a lousy dancer, is my guess.
I doubt it. He wasn't playing a guy who danced at the disco nearly every night, or a good ole country boy who frequented bars.
He was playing the part of a thug, following his boss's orders. That meant showing the boss's wife a good time by letting her choose where to go and what to do.
When watching a movie, I try to forget the actors I am watching. I'm more interested in the characters and the story. In this case, Vincent didn't even know that he was going to enter a dance contest until Mia told him, minutes before they began dancing. Would you dance the best in those circumstances?
As for them winning, That was apparently part of the story. Who knows? Maybe the rest of the contestants were lousy… maybe they got the most applause… Maybe the contest was rigged, like in Saturday Night Fever.

Other than that I kinda like Jack Rabbit Slims with the '50's theme and the lookalikes for the wait staff.
You prob. already knew that was Steve Buscemi as Buddy Holly. Right?
Since I have never been in a ladies room could a gal really do coke like that with others around and no one gives a darn? -

I had to look up Steve Buscemi. I couldn't place the name. The moment I saw him I knew who you are talking about. I had no idea that he played the Buddy Holly waiter, but I can see it with the teeth.
As for the ladies room, I would assume that it depends on the establishment.
I do recall it going on in a certain disco I use to frequent back in the late 70s/early 80s.
I understand that it was the norm in lots of clubs in the 80s. Think about Studio 54. You could partake right at your table.
My friends and I use to smoke weed in a theater in Denver during the midnight movies. The ushers never even blinked an eye.
I really don't know about what goes on these days.

I think that the
characters
they played, really displayed some fancy moves, considering Mia and Vincent had never danced together before.
In any case, I know that I always have fun watching it. It gets me up out of my chair. I can still do a mean twist!

"I can still do a mean twist!"
———————————
LOL, As much as I am embarrassed to admit this and I still will, the only famous dance that I myself can really do is actually
"The Carlton"
from the TV show "
FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR
". -

You kidding?
They barely even move and in that scene you cannot tell that John is a good dancer and that they are having any fun at all.
They look bored and Vince did not want to dance and it shows.
This is one of, if not the, worst dance scenes in movies. -

They really were impressive for a couple who had just met!
I have to wonder if Warren Peace was talking about the same movie.
Oh well, everyone has an opinion…
Me? A Twist competition? That ship has sailed. I dance strictly for fun, and anyone who watches has a good time as well! They laugh themselves silly!
I remember the twist instructors on WML? !!!
Watching that these days, you have to wonder why anyone needed instructors for such a simple dance, but at the time, the Twist was fairly new. Some people considered it vulgar/sinful!

They probably needed lessons because before that, partners held each other up, by putting their arms around each other.
Holding each other close while dancing… now there's an idea.
Gypsy! She's getting into certain Shades of Grey!
