I think Vince had to keep the whole evening not dull and boring and I think that he was entertaining the bosses wife as a loyal soldier, she was all your boss is my husband and I want to dance. They hit it off and he didn't want to know if he could score a drunk her he just wanted out asap, because he did what he said he would to the boss rave reviews, but he wasn't sure if they got drunker if the evening would turn sexual on her side and she might be like your boss said do what ever I tell you… But perhaps no on the last bit there and he wouldn't make a move and she wouldn't either but he wanted to get out of there to enjoy the choco…its a very hard to read scene. But once she broke the rule of don't use what you don't know, the whole thing shifted, and its like well if they would have continued as it were with him returning to the living room and having that drink and trying to leave sooner then he would have been asked is this coke n he would be all no, OD scene gone but a whole new secret would have been possible and if it paralleled the scene we saw then I assume sex or at least head n v eating…

There was clearly a little sexual tension between them when they walk in Marcellus/Mia's place, and Vincent felt it. He even went to the bathroom to speak with himself and was talking about how "loyalty" is important and was convincing himself to avoid the possible sexual situation at all cost and simply leave.
On another hand, knowing whose's wife Mia is, it was better for his own well-being to simply get the hell out of there without attempting anything lol.
Oh yeah, while I see your point about him "being a dead man if he ever made a move", consider this: nothing stopped them from hiding the OD incident from Marcellus…

You really sucked the life and soul out of that scene, didn't you? I disagree with everything you verbosely said.

it's weird that QT has waged war on his scripts being leaked ONLY BECAUSE his scripts had been out there a year before his movies came out since after he became famous with Dogs.
Yeah that sucks. Im guilty of wanting to read a leaked script. But I fought temptation because I much rather see the finished project. I understand how Tarantino felt about it.
John and Uma seemed so cozy and happy with each other the entire edge and suspense and any reason for the scene meant nothing but to show how cool Jack Rabbit Slims could look.
She wanted to have fun. Vincient wanted her to be satified?
I'm sorry folks but if it weren't for Sam Jackson, this movie wouldn't be much. He was NOT a supporting player, he was THE MAIN character and as much as I enjoyed the movie, and I enjoyed Travolta, there needed more edge and urgency when Sam wasn't on screen.
I thought Marcellus was the main character even though he wasnt in all of the movie. Jules was crazy. The part I disliked the most was the robbery at the diner. I guess the point was for us to see that Jules was experiencing a moment of regret about being a psychotic murderer. He didnt change his life either.
Also, Bruce Willis and his girlfriend, really bad. In the script it was even boring. But when Butch realizes he has to sneak back to his own apartment where he knows he's in danger, it got cool again… on paper. But the way Bruce Willis walked back to his apartment seemed like he was dazedly walking home from work to take a nice long nap or something. It got better after the car accident and the hillbilly rape scene but…
Yeah I hated how easy it was to kill Vincient. I liked him a lot. In that scene we were supposed to root for Bruce getting back safely to his girlfriend.

Characters in Tarantino's are flawed. They make mistakes which often turn out to be deadly (there are plenty of examples in his other movies like Dr. Shultz in Django or Shaushana in Inglourious Bastards).
It often happens quite suddenly and unexpectedly. I always thought that this gave his characters a more human touch. People irl are imperfect and make mistakes.
