When Bones was heading to the back of the barber shop to blast Chili, WHY did he keep "clearing his throat" WARNING Chili he was coming?

That's not Bones clearing his throat, it's the old guys sitting in the main room - you know the ones Bones motions to be quiet as he enters the Barbershop.
They're making noise to warn Chili.
