This was made for television by the British 'Channel Four' television company.
The project was a personal one for Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, and they brought in some additional money and american casting through Hallmark Home Entertainment - who distribute the versions of the film outside the UK.
It was originally shown as two parts, so it is classed as a Mini-Series' in the USA. There is also a single episode edited version available. It has never been sold to cinemas to the best of my knowledge.
      Hope this helps.

It was shown here in the US in 2 parts, 2 hours with commercials each, which makes it a "small miniseries". But that is how it was referred to by NBC (as a miniseries rather than a "made for tv movie". I have the initial DVD release which has it all on one single sided disc in 2 parts. The original tape was 2 tapes but ran continuous from part 1 into part 2. What the current DVD is like I do not know.
