Scene related to The Ring?

I just saw this film and was struck by how similar the scene near the end of Grace taking the little girl out of the well was to the scene in The Ring 2. Down to the white dress and everything. Which makes me wonder, is that just a coincidence? Or did this scene somehow influence The Ring? I saw Ringu, the original "Ring," and don't remember whether a well is part of the original story. If not, it seems probable that there is some sort of influence N. Watts had on the writing of "The Ring."

pure coincidence i'm sure, but damn if naomi watts wasn't like "haven't i done this before?" when they filmed ring 2. lol

There's a well in the original story of Ringu. And also in the 1991 book which predates this movie.

Naomi Watts starred in the ring, so maybe thats why. Probably a coincidence though..or not
