with the money? he got the money and he could have just split instead of facing off the guy he knew was The Terminator. then hiding it in the middle of a snowy desert made no sense. he HAD the money in hand… why didn't he just scram?

Or even better, why didn't he give the other guy the money for the ****ing car, and then split? He had a million ****ing dollars! Because he was a world class idiot! It also made for a very ironic ending to the film.

Because the terminator would have hunted him. It actually made perfect sense for Carl to go back and give Gaer his "share" of the money.
Also, it's absolutely stupid that both of them wanted to keep the Ciera. But makes sense for dumb criminals not to realize that the car was a hot potato that would help in solving the crimes.
Yes, Carl could have agreed to pay for half of the Ciera but that would have complicated the ending. The story was wrapping up and for some reason the Coens like killing Buscemi in their movies. LOL!
