      I don't know the exact year and model, but the car was a very early '50s Buick.
      Probably about a 1951 or so Buick Roadmaster.
      Edit: I just found this site that says that the car is a 1949 Buick Roadmaster:

        As a classic Buick lover, I was intrigued by the fact that there were Buicks everywhere in this movie. I suspect that the moviemakers contacted the Buick car Club, and were swamped with offers of classic Buicks.
