"Hollywood just had to throw in Christianity and the Bible.
Why do most Americans feel they have to foist Christianity upon everyone in the world?!"
A better question is, why do so many people demand that every movie they see or book they read validate their beliefs? Only a very insecure person cannot brook being exposed to a belief to which he or she doesn't subscribe.
Also, religion is in the world, and so are religious people. Showing it is not an attempt to "foist Christianity upon everyone" as you so melodramatically put it. It is simply depicting the world as it is. In fact, one could say that the complete absence of religion in the VAST MAJORITY of films and tv shows (including those in the USA) is actually a rather unrealistic portrayal of the human race, which is overwhelmingly religious.
Your whiny, knee-jerk defensiveness resulting from being exposed, rather briefly mind you, to a bit of religion just shows that you are very insecure in your beliefs. -

It was accurate to the culture of the period. What exactly are you so afraid of? -

In this historical depiction you'd have preferred a more secular America? Golly, why even bring slavery into it then? That's not really my bag either.
