According to Steven Spielberg some US actors were furious with him for casting a British actor as The President as they felt the role should have gone to an American performer.
I'd give $$ to know what idiots objected to Hopkins. Isn't all acting pretending or projecting a character you as an actor may have nothing in common. Of all the US actors Suppose there is an actor of advanced age, should he be given the role over anyone who may need make-up. Which US actors should be excluded Italian-Americans..Irish Americans..Gay-Americans

For the record, I thought he was terrific, certainly turning out to be the right choice and it so happens that John Adams and John Quincy Adams are my great-great-great-etc. grandfathers. (No, I'm not kidding.)
