I'm not sure, but I know of something you're missinga brain. He's not the only Action Star who plays the role of men with exceptional skills. You're just another one who envies him.

You can always tell when someone has done martial arts outside of a dojo and knows that even some bad guys can fight (unlike some of the other martial arts stars who never get hit "too fast". right!!) Steven Seagal, being the hero of the movie, is supposed to win the movie, but I like to see the star get hit. Proves he's human, and knows that anyone can get hit in a fight. He's been a guitar player apparently since his teens. And as far as "fat", let's see you keep in shape when you're his age. I think he should be allowed to gain a few pounds.

His own complex fight scenes anymore, apparently. I saw "Belly of the Beast." That wasn't him doing those kicks. The fist work, sure. But nothing that requires any degree of body movement 🙂

I always wondered if his skills are transferable from movie to movie. For instance, he's a world-class immunologist in 'The Patriot'; does this mean that his character Gino in 'Out for Justice' is one as well?
My favorite ridiculous Seagal-the-Demigod moment is in the truly wretched 'Out of Reach,' where his character walks into the police department in a major Eastern European city (I can't remember if it was Prague or Warsaw, maybe?), sits down at a computer, and types in a password so that he can access their classified files. Bear in mind, he's not a cop, and he's not working with the police in any way; he just walked in off the street and used their computer. The movie just assumes that Seagal would know the password for every police database in the world off the top of his head, which is a super-power that not even Superman has.

He sets up a lab to test the water in the river. Also he manages to fit everything (including at least 3 leather jackets) into his bag. Don't forget "prankster" as he puts snakes in the guys' pickup. "Snake in the grass"
Awesome movie. It wouldn't be a movie about Appalachia without Harry Dean Stanton.

It's kinda funny how at least 99% of the people that criticize Seagal's acting being too crappy or dreadful has never once been into or starred in a movie or even taken one single damn acting class in their entire life. I do agree that Steven appear to be cold in his movies lacking any emotional range throughout his entire career. Probably due to all the crap he's been through in real life. Anyways, I have no complaints about Seagal's acting because I've seen far more crap for the last 10 years in what most people's eyes seemed to be wonderful performances. Steven Seagal is very authentic and the number one rule of becoming ultra famous around the world is to keep your image put. Not diversify in any way, yet be through it all. I mean isn't there a damn type of character he hasn't played yet that didn't seem to fit into his "killer" profile? And seriously, enough with the weight beep alright? It's the 21st century people, where fast food restaurants and sweets are around on every corner of earth and were today obesity is the biggest health problem there is. Why do you think he looked different and thinner back in the late 80's and early 90's? We all change in time. Now if we would compare the action there's no doubt it's all crap. Some of the fight choreography captured in his early work were tremendous and diversified him from the rest of the "kickers" in the Martial Arts/Action Films department. You people cannot grasp the art of it, the free creativity and the distinctiveness. Everybody keeps on comparing everybody to either Bruce Lee or JCVD or Jet Li, get over it. Oh and by the way, if Seagal couldn't act or do anything worthy on camera then how come he's still around making movies? You think his real life limited him in any way? A bit of scandal here and over there but still he manage to keep his dream alive and that is to make action movies, whether you idiots like it or not. He has a very loyal fan base also which sums up alot.

You're right, I've never taken an acting class or starred in a movie. The difference is that I KNOW that I can't act. Besides, you don't have to have been the President of the US before you're allowed to criticize the President. Ever heard of "free speech"?
Steven Seagal is very authentic and the number one rule of becoming ultra famous around the world is to keep your image put. Not diversify in any way, yet be through it all.
Tell that to Russell Crowe or Robert DeNiro. Besides, everyone knows that 99% of Seagal's 'biography' is utter bull. Real ex-CIA killers don't brag about their exploits in the press. And the only reason he got to be 'the first Westerner to run an Aikido dojo in Japan' is because he married his sensei's daughter.
And seriously, enough with the weight beep alright? It's the 21st century people, where fast food restaurants and sweets are around on every corner of earth and were today obesity is the biggest health problem there is.
His weight isn't the problem. The problem is that his newer movies ignore his obvious obesity and ask us to pretend that he's as fit as he used to be. And the blatant use of stunt doubles who don't look anything like him is an issue too.
Oh and by the way, if Seagal couldn't act or do anything worthy on camera then how come he's still around making movies?
Because easily-amused people keep buying his DVDs. Which is fine.
