The Ides of March Party?

I've never heard of an "Ides of March Party." Is it something that happens a lot out East? I know the Ides of March is from Julius Caeser. Caeser is warned, "Beware the Ides of March," but he doesn't heed the warning and goes to the Senate and is killed. Why is this an occasion for a party? Is it a party whose theme is violent death? Something akin to Holloween? Is that why Jackie dressed like Jackie Kennedy on the day her husband was killed? Or is it just a symbolic name to add another texture of meaning to the narrative, ie. Marty knows he shouldn't bring a fiancee home with him, but he does it anyway, and is killed. Or is it something that Jackie and Marty made up when they were kids? I'm curious.

Okay, so I did a little research and I found out that the Ides of March is on the 15th, and it was the first day of the Roman calender year. People celebrate it by having a toga party (Forgive me, there were no fraturnities where I went to college). So, it is strange that Jackie would decide to wear not a toga, but Jackie Kennedy's outfit with ketchup and macaroni on it. But in a way it makes sense because the "Ides of March" is best remembered for the day that Julius Caeser was killed. Maybe it was Jackie's way of saying that Kennedy was like America's Caeser. It is also interesting that this day and this action mark the beginnning of the downfall of the Pascal family. Well, maybe not the beginning, maybe that was when Mr. Pascal left (or was killed). But this was the beginning of the downfall of Marty, the substitute JFK and Caeser. And thus Jackie fashions herself to be not only like Jackie Kennedy, but Calpernia as well. Anyway, I could probably write a term paper on this movie, but I doubt y'all would read it.

Yeah I understand completely. I have Christian parents too and I can just imagine "so yeah mom, it's about incest, insanity, and JFK's assasination" haha. I probably still would have watched this when I was 16 though. My parents weren't real sticklers about the movies I watched, so I could rent things without them really freaking out and just watch the movies when I was alone. If I had the ability to download this, I would do it for you. I think the script might be fairly easy find (because it was a play first), so if I find it I'll post it.
Good Luck!

Perhaps that is why no one would talk to Jackie at the party.. they had a party so girls would dress up in skimpy togas, and she shows up in business attire. This would suggest that Jacky was thinking much too far into the theme of the "Ides of March." It would seem that Jackie already had an obsession with murder and assasination before the party, which the movie somewhat suggested was the beginning of her insanity.
