I agree.Why did the 2 main actors (Pitt & Forlani) either mumble their lines constantly OR whisper their lines almost the entire movie? (ONE main exception: Anthony did NOT mumble and he was the best actor in this movie,imho).
And yes, the music score was way too loud and since the actors mumbled so much , it really took away from this movie.
BasicallyPoor editing and poor directing.

Anthony never mumbles. He theater trained so knows how to give a line.

It bombed because the story wasn't compelling enough for viewers and possibly bad marketing as well.

The movie bombed because the music was louder that the people? Wouldnt that knowledge require seeing the movie? Which means they bought a ticketdo u see where im going with this?? Your theory is beep

Even though I don't agree with the OP, word of mouth travels fast. People often tell family and friends about movies they just saw. If someone said they didn't like a movie because they couldn't hear the dialogue or any other reason it could sway a person not to see a film or just wait to rent it.

Don't know if it bombed. When it came out in the theatres, it got so-so reviews.
I've seen this movie more than a handful of times now, and each time, we need to put on the captions. I agree the mix of music and dialogue is all wrong.
Great movie!!
