insted of shutting down commmunication it should have sent it's self world wide. just think the internet at it's command

It didnt shut down communication, Nadia and Alexi destroyed communication. What it should have done is not send itself to ship but on mainland.

The ship was the one in live contact with the space station when the alien ship collided with it.
And the OP is thinking of a virus, it didn't think like one, it considered others as viruses. Plus it probably stayed where there was more power, not just go any where and risk survival.
