There is no "left" to speak of in the United States. We have a far-right party and a center-right party. And, yes, they are paid by their donors to keep it that way. There is no other explanation for the Democratic Party's complete failure to adjust their strategy and messaging whatsoever after more than a decade of faux populism like the Tea Party and MAGA being politically viable.

both sides want big government to solve problems, if that's what you mean by "right".
then there's conservative ways to go about it and progressive ways to go about it.
that's what modern left and right are.
you control the poles and you control the herd in the middle. -

In a libertarian sense, neither of them are "right." I only meant that Democrats in the U.S. are to the right of Conservative parties in most developed nations. Minus a handful of free spirits on both sides of the aisle (who are, of course, kept from gaining any real power or influence) the parties work for their corporate masters. The assigned roles in the current era seem to be the Republicans as the Harlem Globetrotters, doing whatever the **** they want to do, and Democrats as the Washington Generals, who do nothing to stop it.

i don't really care to debate about semantics when it's really just a uniparty
the globetrotters and the generals both need to exist for the plebs to enjoy the show
the sponsors need the show to distract the plebs
and when the plebs have guns, you need a really big show
