I felt a little out of the loop when trying to watch South Park this year, and found out it may be due to the show adopting a serialized storytelling structure. I haven't really watched for several years now, so which season did they start doing this? I figure I'll pick up from there.

so which season did they start doing this?
Season 3, with the "Meteor Shower Trilogy" featuring Cat Orgy", "Two Guys Naked in a Hot Tub", and "Jewbilee".
If you're referring to when the entire seasons have been this way, Season 18 is the second of their 10 episode seasons, and when they first kept one continuous theme for the entire season.
