This movie reeks of narcissism

Even outside of the movie it's stained with narcissism. At the time the movie was made Julia Roberts was in high demand. To be in a movie where you play an actor that's self absorbed and has adoring fans and to be that person IRL is narcissistic as hell. I like the movie, but would've liked it better with a different lead. Jmo. It's JMO, so don't attack me for an opinion.

Someone like Julia Roberts has the body of work
and
sufficient movie star status to support the proposition that the character would be instantly recognizable and a source of endless fascination to the public. They chose someone with 100% credibility for the 'Anna Scott' role.
Are you thinking the movie would have been better if they'd cast a less famous actress, or a total unknown, to play the Hollywood superstar, opposite Hugh Grant?
P.S. I'm wondering how you know Julia Roberts is so narcissistic and self-absorbed? Her efforts to have a private life, away from the Hollywood celebrity circuit, are pretty well-known. I'm not attacking youjust curious about when you met. -

i didn't think she was narcissistic at all. quite the opposite. my annoyances with anna were her insecurities and paranoia's, leading her to treat will like he was using her or out to get her, at least until the end where she realized her mistakes.
