There's something about that scene that irks me, one moment Jim and that horse was about to get it on and then agreed to go to a motel. Then later she doesn't show up and ends up with Dianne supposely crying about it?
I think they both planned it.they both probably hated him and ended up lesbianing together -

idk but I agree with you about the horse teeth I do think that neither Linda nor Dianne didn't know how to love she bitched and moaned about her own husband [and made fun of him].
and who says:

Linda might have set him up because of she might have wanted someone else to be as miserable as she is. She might have viewed his pass as being in a similar vein to her husband's cheating and destroying him was an expression of anger being masked as the right thing to do in her mind.
