Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

    wlmmn — 9 years ago(July 11, 2016 07:54 AM)

"I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" well duh, if you knew what someone did last summer, it stands to reason that, barring memory loss, you'd still know that same piece of information sometime in the future, right? I knew what 2+2 equaled as a kid. Guess what? I still know

He means that he hasn't died, so the state of him knowing what happened the previous summer continues. But yes, it's a ridiculous title.

*Explains why the title makes sense
          *Calls it dumb anyway

You don't think that's possible? I think it's a dumb title because it's silly, contrived and confusing. There must've been better titles to use.

It says that because he is still alive and because the story is continuing, that he still knows. Pretty basic, no need to overthink it.

A lot of people seem to think that because he "still knows", he's referring to the summer from the first title. I remember when the movie came out, people were saying that it should've been called "I know what you did two summers ago". So it is kind of confusing. Using "again" instead of "still" would be more correct since it doesn't refer to the same event. And I just think it's a silly title. Instead of looking for a contrived variation on the title they could've just called it IKWYDLS 2. But whatever, a silly title for a silly movie, I guess.

It's only confusing if you have a simple brain. I Know What You Did Two Summers Ago sounds stupid and doesn't sound as interesting as the one they went with.

Yes, that title sounds stupid, although I don't think people were seriously suggesting that should've been the actual title. But I don't really agree with this title either, as it's not entirely correct. Not that the title matters anyway, it's the movie itself that's pretty bad.

They could've just called it, "I Still Know" or "I Still Know What You Did That Summer" but something about having the full title/original with Still added, sounded better to them I guess.
