In general, never trust a movie! based on a true story" does not mean that it is anywhere near close to the truth. Remember that even documentary films are often misleading people. However, this movie has a lot of historical facts in it.
A bit like titanic, LOL! Facts mixed with fictional characters

As the opening title says, "The following is basically a true story, slightly augmented." Based on fact but played for dark comedy and satire, much like HBO's

About as real as silicone breasts: nice to look at, but don't trust it too much.
