100,000 ,s more probably just had cold like symptoms.Of course the US media, especially CNN thrive on doom and gloom for its ratings and to push its socialist agendas.And scientists get funding by promoting doom and gloom ,because there would be no money in saying the worst of this will blow over in a few months.
