Yes, he did. All the clues are there. The only problem is this:
Girl in the middle of nowhere see a guy with a map in his hand. She points him in the directions available, and then she leaves.
She comes home, and suddently the dog starts barking. She sees the guy stranded in the middle of nowhere coming really close to her house.
Now, think about 2nd amendment for a bit. Think about what her thought is when he follows her to the house. A stranger
Im not saying she shoot him, but that could be a possibility. I would much rather have the ending with her being home when he showed up with the package. Not this artistic beep leaving the audience guessing.

Good answer! It pretty much allows for almost any emotional outcome.
I going to miss these boards!

It leaves a few clues ( camera angles; facial expressions) that suggest that he's going to go in the direction of the fine looking; younger lady. I agree with the last post. Instead of doing an artsy/fartsy ambiguous ending take; a better sense of closure Wouldve involved a shot of them taking a chance on eachother. The flirting at the crossroads was so obvious. Its pretty crazy that he didnt try to score then ! Golden oppurtunities don't often present themselves uin the middle of nowhere . The worst that could happen is her telling him that she's taken.

It was pretty obvious he did. Remember, he talked about staying alive because you never know what the tide will bring next. Well, this was the tide bringing him to a new direction. If you remember, after she drives off, he stands at the crossroads and turns to each direction before finally turning back and facing the direction she drove off. Right then, he gets a slight smile on his face, probably realizing this is the so-called tide turning him to a new direction in his life.

That's my favorite part of the movie. Hopefully a happy ending for Chuck.
