So in the end does it say whether or not Keven Bacon's "visions" stop? His son obviously was a "flash light" that was always turned on.
Did I miss something that eluded that after the murder was solved this would stop or was his mind always going to be open? That would really suck for his wife!! But for the little boy??? I guess the parents would have to be aware that he would always see ghosts?
    Thoughts?

It's implied that Tom's visions and abilities end at the end of the movie, which is why there is peace and happiness in the serene way he and Maggie are moving out.
In the book I don't think he ever had the visions again, but I think the last time he was ever able to use the psychic abilities ever again was when he knew his unborn child would be a girl; this is where it basically stopped for him.

First of all, yes I know the thread is old.
Secondly, if you remember the cop told the mom that lots of people have "the eyes" as he called it. He said some only have it temporarily where as others have it their whole lives. Kevin Bacon's character seems to be one of those who only had it temporarily (or at least we are led to believe this). His kid however seems to be one of those who's powers will stick around for ahile given the massive amount of voices he was hearing at the end of the movie.

I always thought that bit was the creepiest part since the suicide dude's father said he didn't want cold blood murders in their "decent" neighborhood.
That last scene where the kid covered his ears really kinda bothered me since he started hearing voices(lots of 'em)as their moving van pass by the houses in that "decent" neighborhood, which to me, meant that almost all of the houses in there had dead bodies hidden in them and stray ghosts looking for help.
Since it was shown that Samantha fled the house a happy spirit, I thought it might've signaled the other neighborhood ghosts that it was Jake who had helped her
            Uhh so there 😜

Wow, I never saw it that way. Makes the whole thing a lot more scary. But I think you are mistaken in one point. What we see in the end is a scene of the new neighborhood they move too. And since this is probably not such a "decent" neighborhood, there are a lot of bodies and ghosts roaming around. Makes you wonder, did the neighbor also know about ghost? Also usually ghosts don't go around telling their stuff to other ghosts once they found peace. They just walk directly into the light.

I wasn't thinking that it meant that the houses were filled with restless spirits. Only that the boy was essentially a walking antenna for emotions or spirits (I base this on the numerous comments he makes about things that bother his mother and the way he reacted when his parents fought). So he would be picking up on all of the emotional undercurrents in the neighborhood and that would be true where ever they moved. That said, people die at home all the time, even more so in the olden days, so it is likely that any given house on the East Coast (For sure those that were built prior to WWII, but certainly many after that too. My father died at home in a house built in the 1960s.) could have at least the "psychic" remembrance of a death.

You can post spoilers all you like, but it's important to point that out in the thread title, which you did.
