Since the discussion boards will be closing, I wanted at least to post that this is one of my favorite movies. I thought it was spectacular. Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix both did great jobs portraying the characters they were supposed to. I also thought the supporting cast was excellent, Djimon Hounsou was strong, as was Ralf Moeller portraying "the barbarian", and of course Derek Jacobi, so excellent in one of my first British series "I Claudius". Superb. And I will not forget Connie Nielsen, who was so torn between her love for her father, her brother, and her son. Finally, I thought Oliver Reed (Proximo) was also a great performance.
When I moved, once, and started to connect my TV and had no cable, this was the first movie I watched.
    (Keep the discussion boards!)
