Maybe it was because i was really tired or because i didn't know what i was watching or simply because i didn't really expect anything better on space on a late Sunday night.
But i really didn't think it was as horrible as everyone is letting on.
I mean it was pretty bad in parts but i wouldn't say worst movie every.
I may even watch it again since i missed parts due to to flipping between channels during commercials.
Alright let fly the comments. I started it after all lol -

I haven't seen this film in a LONG time, but I don't remember it being that bad either. I do recall some bad moments, but a rating of 2.3? That seems VERY harsh. That being said, this opinion might be wrong. I will try to find it and watch it again.

Fact is it isn't that bad.
People expected a lot more from the support cast and Pepper doesn;t have the screen presence to command a lead role.
It's a scientology film starring one of Hollywood's big scientologist actors.
It has Ray Bradbury Theatre level effects and sub-Ray Bradbury story/dialogue.
IF you can make it past these glaring flaws and enjoy CHEESE it has the ability to provide a great deal of pleasure.
Travolta is as good as Travolta ever was Forest Whittaker is walking, or limping, through his performance but still provides a good deal fo comic relief.
Barry Pepper is a sexless, emotionless character who loves and equally emotionless lead female - who everyone coincidentally takes orders from late int he film simply because she is Barry Pepper's squeeze. Go figure.
Plot holes? Why even go there. A five year old could pick em. -

It was a bad film. Period.
I think people are bringing up scientology just as a reason to hate it more.
I am definitely not a scientologist but I don't see how this film has anything to do with it. I don't care, it's still a poorly made movie.
Bad acting, bad story. It's as if a 12 year old wrote and directed it. -

I,in no way connect this film to Scientology. I do, however consider this one of my "go to" movies when I am drinking and need a laugh. Everything is SO over the top and the writing is horrible for the amount of money spent on this. I don't know if they tried to bite of more than they could chew from the book or Travolta was just so giddy from being able to make this movie he did not care. There are so many plot holes in this movie it makes MST3K fans giddy.
That being said, I watch every now and again to bitch about the wipe-out sequences. -

Yes this movie is bad, but it's not 2.4 bad. I'd say the reason it's score is so low is due to high expectations (budget, big names) and that it is related to scientology. Deserves a 4. I'd say with some proper editing, this could have been made into a decent film. The Postman is another example of a high budget, big name film that just got torn apart by critics, mostly out of spite for it's lofty expectations. And again, could have been made into a good film with proper editing.

the postman always cracked me up. such an interesting and promosing concept for a post apocolyptic world flick and costner and the main villain dude weren't terrible but the film just shot itself in the foot time and time again with cringe worthy beep like the character being named ford lincoln mercury and the tom petty "no! you're famous!" zipline city scenes. gawd.
Yes. It's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken Caesar! -

I don't think it's that bad, either. Certainly far from good, but far from being one of the worst movies ever. I give it 4.5/10.
Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. -

The film is shocking.
- 'Cavemen' dig out gold and smelt it into PERFECTLY shaped and STAMPED!!! gold bars and Travolta accepts that as possible?
- 'Cavemen' learn to fly Harrier jets!! And can both fill and arm them - and everything still works??
Yes its that bad.

It is really really bad. The whole film was made as an investment fraud. Google Franchise Picture fraud, and you'll get the story. They were taken to court after this, and went bankrupt.
The script makes no sense etc. I cant even begin to talk about how inane this film is.
