What the hell does Gammak mean?

What does the word "gammak" mean?
I remember hearing it before, when I first watched this series years ago. I also sort of wondered what they meant, but I was never even clear on the exact word they were using. Now, watching it again, I paid closer attention hoping and expecting to gain some insight on this term, but nothing.
In Season 1 Episode 18 (A Bug's Life) a group of Peacekeeper's come on board with a prisoner. They tell Crichton they need to go to a secret Gammak base. They don't elaborate on what they mean by "Gammak", and everyone just nods their heads as if they know exactly what he means.
In S1E19 and E20 the crew go to said Gammak base. It is repeatedly referred to as
the
Gammak base. But what is that? As far as we know the base is just a research facility, designing interrogation chairs and wormhole devices among other things.
It's in a secret location so it seems unlikely that Gammak refers to the location, so we can throw out proper names for stars, planets, and moons. Later in S1E18 they know it's called Gammak yet specifically state they are not sure where it is.
Gammak seems to be used as an adjective.
The word Gammak has no meaning in english.

I'm pretty sure Crichton asked in some episode (I think the one he was pretending to be a Peacekeeper cap'n, right before he meets Scorpie for the first time) and Aeryn explained it's a secret military research base. And yes, gammak is a made-up word.

It's just a name. Like if you went to Edwards Air Force Base or Andrews Air Force Base.
Maybe it's named after some famous General; maybe it's just a name that was made up.
It doesn't matter; it's just the name of the place. -

Hmmmgood question and very well thought out in how you approached it.
My nearest guess is that it's their version of black site or a formalized version of "covert." Like how some use the term Area 51 or Gitmo to refer to another such facility or to connote that an area is being used in a similar, secretive manner. Perhaps Gammack is a place or an event which now is used interchangeably to denote a secretive operation.
