Not a poultry drumstick but an icecream one (dairy). When she and Keanu are walking after playing down at the beach with those white gigantic poodle things, he's eating a fruit popsicle and she's picking at a drumstick. Um, tofurky for thanksgiving and an icecream drumstick???

I don't know, but her describing making vegan sausage with lots of vegan butter sounded so good. o_O

I don't think she was vegan all of the time - or maybe she just kept vegan foods around in case certain 'months' were vegan.. 'Cause, I mean, while she's asking him about the Vegan bacon and cheese, she is cracking some eggs open. And, yeah, the other post mentioned the salami. That's just my take, though.

I know the thread is two years old, but - she was apparently ovo-lacto-vegetarian who likes fake meat, not vegan. In that early cooking scene she's preparing eggs while talking about the vegan fake-meat in the freezer, which puzzled me first as well.

I didn't understand the whole vegan-thing either. I suspect the writers of the film didn't know the difference between vegan and
              vegetarian
              .
Because vegans do NOT eat milk (Sarah ate ice cream) and they certainly do not eat salami!

I believe the veganism may just have been another try at managing her illness, like what was in the medicine cabinet.

Did she ever actually state that she was a strict vegan? I don't think so. It seems a lot more likely you made the same error many make, that you hear the words vegan in food and suddenly you think someone is somehow obligated to a particular diet that you assume is exactly what a vegan should eat.
There are at least couple other reasons to eat vegan meats. One is a reduction in saturated fat. Another is being opposed to cruelty to animals to the extent that they're slaughtered. Another is you have vegan friends and have to have some food around that they'll eat. Another is you happen to like the taste of a product and that it's vegan, is fine but not the primary choice you picked it. Another is you believe the propaganda about the dangers of animals being fed hormones, anti-biotics and other chemicals but believe it's worse for certain foods.
Then again, who is to say it wasn't vegan ice cream? It exists.
