The movie is a great example of how hard it is to deal with the disease that Charlize had in the movie which was cancer. So if it wasn't for Keanu Reeves being there for hershe could've not had a great life b4 she said goodbye to him in the end of the movie.
I luv this movie sooooooo much! It makes me cry!

Oh goshhh!!
I cried tooo.
It was so heartbreaking..
Actually I was expecting a superficial "classical" love movie which portrays "The prince and princess live happily ever after". This film certainly awed me in mid-way since I started to feel there's something wrong with Sara. Towards the ending scenes I cried several times. The last movie that I cried over was way back in Titanic. After watching it.my frist instinct was "How sweet can it be? Darn it! How come Charlize has to be dead?". Here comes the interesting point : The name of the move "Sweet November". When I reflected on what they did in the whole month, I started to sense the SWEETNESS in THAT November. Had it not been Nelson, Sara wouldn't have such a sensational memory before her ultimate death (I suppose).
Lastly, I wonder.
WHY the movie was rated so LOW?? -

I watched this movie last night, to be honest I had never heard of it and being a Keanu Reeves fan I sat down to watch what I thought was a truly great movie. Yes I cried but it was a mixture of both sadness for the fact that Sara has this illness which is ultimately going to kill her, especially when she has just found true love, and also a mixture of happiness that in a time that she could just lay down and say right enough is enough, I am going to die so I will just sit down and do nothing. This does not happen she is making the most of what time she has left, maybe she didnt expect to fall for Nelson but it just goes to show that no matter what you can or cannot plan in your life, things will happen to throw a spanner in the works. The ending was to me quite just, I would understand why people might find it hard to understand. Here is my take on it, Sara knows she is dying so does Nelson, and because he loves her he wants to be with her and help her at her most fragile time, but this is not what Sara wants, she wants Nelson to live his life, be free and remember what good times they shared that November, she does not want him to be there to see her waste away in front of him, she wants him to meet someone else eventually and be happy, and not waste his life on what if's and maybe's, this was not sara's view on life. Life is to be treasured and the most simple and taken for granted things we do everyday are to be cherished. Sara loves him and if you love someone you will do anything for them, and Sara loves Nelson so much that she is willing to let him go, even though it is breaking her heart to do so, she knows he cannot be with her, and at the end Nelson understands her wishes and respects them, which is why he lets her go to and does not follow her on the bridge. This film is not about action or big glossy effects, it is simply a love story.

Ok you wrote this in 2006, and it is 2009 now and I am reading this. But I loved what you said so much that I just wanted to say that. And if you ever come back to this thread I wanted you to see it. Every single sentence in your post is on target. And especially looking at all the other junk threads on this board it was awesome to finally see someone who understood this movie. And also from what you are saying, I think you would get your own life right, because you understand what it is all about.

I like this movie too. The part where Nelson turned down Edgar Price's offer was enough to bring me to tears. What could he have possibly been thinking? He should have definately taken the offer since he was unemployed.

the guy said he is not going to tolerate his employees having family and stuff and he wanted all the commitment to work. now if you only work and no play that defeats the purpose of working. You work so you can have money and then spend the money on things you love to do like your hobbies and on people you love like your family. If you are not allowed to have family and you are not allowed to have hobbies then what do you need the money for?
