So..How come we never see any cleric other than Brandt protect "father"?

We know Preston is the best cleric there is, but it'd only be logical that he wouldn't stand a chance against a group of rival clerics, so why did father only employ Brandt to protect him? and why didn't the other clerics appear once Preston managed to breach the security?
Another thing that unsettles me is that, given that we saw like hundreds of clerics working in Preston's office, I'd suppose once the resistance started their "revolution", those hundreds of clerics would appear to control the situation and would sweep the floor with the revolutionaries, not even Preston would be able to stop them from regaining control, right?

With regimes like this you always fear being overthrown from within. So everyone is suspect. You wouldn't allow many people around you. Did you ever see the episode of twilight zone with Peter falk? He leads a rebellion and begins imaging deceit and disloyalty from the people who carried him to power. Same thing here I think.
Also, I don't think the rest of the clerics are capable of such independent thought. Unless told to do something like work together it wouldn't occur to them. Again jealous hoarding of power. Your own downfall.
