Okay, so, we get the whole badass "Not without incident" scene where Preston blasts just about everybody in the room with pistols that should have been confiscated from him, and then he runs through a single hallway and obliterates a bunch of motorcycle helmet-wearing fetish guards with Stormtrooper aim and rifles that would find better use in the hands of a squirrel. And then he fights MORE bad guys in a ten-second sword fight in 'Father's' chamber, kills Taye Diggs, has a slap-fu-kata fight with 'Father' and then shoots him dead. And then there's the resistance and blah blah blah.
But there was a huge opportunity that Wimmer failed to take advantage of, and it's my biggest problem with this film.
The Clerics.
So it's established early in the movie that Preston and Sean Bean are not the only Clerics. They are supposed to be an elite 'SS-style' police for 'Father.' Hell, we even see them training in one or two scenes, so clearly there are at LEAST thirty other Clerics (undoubtedly more that we didn't see onscreen). So my question is:
WHERE THE HELL ARE THE OTHER CLERICS WHEN EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL?
What are they doing when one of their own is accused of feeling emotions and then completely turns against the order? Playing cards? Practicing their trigonometry? Staring at the wall? One would think the beepstorm Preston is spraying their order walls with would be something that they couldn't possibly ignore. It's like all they're good for is synchronized training, but when the real revolutionaries come around and Preston shoots at computer screens and factories are exploding, they're nowhere to be found?!
Worst. Secret police.
EVER

Only six or seven guys? We saw a lot more of them earlier, though. It just feels like a strange decision by Wimmer to leave out the rest of them.
Or maybe he forgot. LOL.

but the ones guarding Father had to have been the most elite they had left and Bale sliced through them in like 5 seconds. So it goes without saying that Bale would be able to kill off the remaining that resisted with ease. Plus without the equilibrium stock they would quickly turn on their beliefs.
