Did any else find this quite similar to Total Recall

Both Equilibrium and Total Recall involve an agent of the oppressive regime who wakes up to reality and begins fighting for the resistance only to discover he was manipulated in order to flush out and destroy the resistance.
Anyone else notice this striking similarity in plot??

You should read 1984 by George Orwell. This movie is very much inspired by that.
