Exactly. The paramount of the narrative essentially revolved around their sex lives and the journey they get from it, mistakes, friendships etc so to remove the sex scenes would be crucifying the storyline.
Yes Julio and Tenoch were young, daft and inexperienced so they were bad in bad and like nachohater says Luisa tells them so, I mean it lasted- what 30 seconds with Luisa?

Lady of England: You are awesome. I was just thinking how truthful your "Benigno didn't do it" post was and here you are again, being brilliant.
      OK, enough arse kissing.
I thought the sex in the film was crucial. I thought it was a lovely exploration of sexuality (homo and hetero) and of that really awkward time between teenager and adult. Like most teenagers that believe they are sex gods, Tenoch and Julio are clumsy and awkward. You see this as soon as the film starts and it is not until the very last sex scene that they show a bit of skill.
I also liked how natural the nudity seemed. The script was written delicately enough that I never wondered if the women were being exploited. I never thought the sex seemed like Hollywood sex which is either perfect (simultaneous orgasms with mood music) or played for laughs. All in all, it was the sex that made the movie so perfect for me.

Gosh very flattering lol thank you! Its nice to see different views on here but sometimes they are just outrageous so I feel compelled to question them lol.
Had a quick look on your page about what films you posted about.. Good films.. Better than chocolate and But I'm a cheerleader.. 😄 Have you seen Imagine Me and You? Loving Annabelle? Lost and Delirious? Other films in that similar genre?
Yeah I agree the sex was definately cruicial to the storyline, and it was more realistic than Hollywood love scenes.

Some of my all time favorite films in "that" genre are:
Affinity, Tipping the Velvet, and Fingersmith
Imagine Me and You, Lost and Delirious
Loving Annabelle, Fire, Aimee and Jaguar, The World Unseen
Wow, I'm starting to realize that all my favorite movies in English have a common theme.

Well the first two, Fire and Aimee and Jaguar, are foreign films. Fire is from India and Aimee and Jaguar are from Germany. They are both awesome films but both require a large box of tissue. Especially Aimee and Jaguar, I have a female friend from Germany whose accent is quite similar to one of the leads. I watch A LOT of foreign films.

LOL. I thought that, too. Especially at the beginning, with the first sex scene. I kept thinking that there was no way the guy would even be in the right place, going by the position of their bodies. That was distracting.

thumbs up on that!! I watched this film with my 15yo brother and we both loved it.
I feel that sometimes people in North America and Northern Europe have different opinions regarding sex than Southern Europe and Latin America, which is kinda weird since we're all people.
In Portugal I rented the DVD with all the uncensored scenes and it was rated '16 and +' and I've seen much worse and explicit scenes on national tv and it was deemed appropriate for people aged '12 and +'.
I was definitely not bothered by the sex, nor the drugs but the mexican vocabulary required some subtitles 🙂
youngsters dont make mistakes, they try new things n besides, brains r overrated!

Scandinavian countries, and Germany, have basically no censorship, so saying northern Europe and North America share the same idea and opinions regarding sex on TV/in films is wrong. We're way more open to it in northern Europe (except the UK perhaps), I would even say we're more open to it than southern Europe and Latin America. In Scandinavia we show full nudity on live television and in films, naked children, sex, cussing, etc. We don't censor anything, ever.. and we don't get offended by mature content either. Just saying.

yep, I realize I made a mistake when I said 'North America and Northern Europe are different' but I didnt mean to say they are the same.
in America explicit nudity and sex is still a taboo, in Scandinavia it is quite normal, pure and artistic and in latin countries it is faced as dirty/hot and necessary to keep the audience in whatever show: films, telenovelas, theatres, reality shows and tons of shows that are only about sex.
I find it just a tad stupid to use sex as a way to sell everything. it's like they think everybody's a hormone-bursting teenage boy, which judging by the results of the audiences, they are right 😕
maybe someday we can progress and accept nudity as normal and not as solely sex-orientated.

I'm 17 and wasn't bothered at all. In fact, I am glad the nudity and sex was done so naturalistic instead of feeling staged. It made the movie feel all the more real. Hollywood often paints pictures of how sex is, and it isn't usually how it is depicted. I credit the film for being frank, but not overly gratuitous. The sex wasn't used to be arousing, but rather to add to the story. In fact, besides for the voice-overs (which I feel didn't work so well), this was a fantastic movie! 8/10

I agree completely. Not only was the sex completely realistic, it also was not gratuitous. No, the film isn't appropriate for everyone, but that's what ratings are for.
I think some people need to grow up and chill out - it's not the 1950s anymore, and a threeway isn't going to hurt anyone. We've all been there. It's just sex!

Can not agree more. My wife I liked the movie a lot and we both found s*x scenes edgy, intriguing and stimulating.
Way too much space is wasted on comments that go like "Watching this made me uncomfortable ". Movies, expecially "R" rated ones, provoke emotions. Discomfort is just one of them 🙂

I wasn't offended so much as I was simply bored. The first hour+ of the movie establishes that they are horny teenagers who don't have the sexual prowess the think they do I think this could have been well communicated in at least half that time. I found this part of the film (i.e. most of the film) interminable and I nearly stopped watching.
