Nicole's house was all glass walls, then at that party there were glass walls where you could see people fooling around on the bed. Why do people have these houses with glass walls. I understand that Nicole's house was behind a gate so it isn't like just anyone could see into their home. But even so you have no privacy in your own home from your own family. Case in point when Nicole and Carlos were in her room and they could see her dad outside the window and Carlos freaks out because they will be seen messing around.

Perhaps some symbolism there? Her dad could see what a mess Nicole was if he'd only look at her but there's a wall between them.

Just the exterior walls were glass, and they were tinted. Nothing more.

Personally, I love the style, but I think it was more-so to show contrast between her home and Carlos' home. Carlos' house was run-down, very Californian, verywarm. Nicole's house was modern, sterile, safe, and yet cold.

A bit of trivia: the glass house used in the film is located at 27380 Winding Way, Malibu (34 1' 52.06" N, 118 46' 22.98" W). There are some nice pictures of it in Google Maps (45 view).
