Does anyone think that this anime looks old?

I'm not a troll, but I was thinking that this anime looks old. It uses an old kind of anime style that they used to use around the 80s or something.
It's old like Johnny Bravo. Haven't seem a 90s anime look this old before besides Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon.

Well it was made in 1998. Look at other series made that year. Outlaw Star looks older as well. Cowboy Bebop came out the same year. However it might have had the benifit of a higher budget. Berserk came out a year before that in 1997. It looks even older, but is awesome any ways.
What are some of your favorite animes?

My favorite anime is definitely Cowboy Bebop but I also kinda like Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away too.
I'm planning on seeing Outlaw Star, haven't really looked at Berserk, and yeah, I was wondering why Cowboy Bebop had unique animation. LOL

If I may I would like to recommend a couple to you. Check out the following:
Full Metal Alchemist + movie Conquer of Shambala
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (A remake of the first series.)
Last Exile
Samurai Champloo (Same creator as Cowboy Bebop)
Gungrave
Baccano!
Wolf's Rain
The Girl Who Lept Through Time (Movie)
Summer Wars (Movie)
Those listed above are some of my favorites. I first got into anime around 2003. When did you get introduced? What was your first series/movie?

I really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop because I felt like it had an older feel to it, probably due to the noir atmosphere. As for Trigun, I feel sort of the same way, minus the noir, but Trigun is a bit silly. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I don't really dislike it, but it's not exactly my favorite either. I remember watching an episode when I was a kid and loving it, but now that I'm watching the complete series, I'm not as enthused.

At first the humor was a little bit of a turn off for me too.. However after episode 12 the humor kind of disappears, and the show becomes very serious. The humor doesn't bother me at all now. I think the show is fantastic!

I was a little worried about the silliness in the beginning. I turned off Lupin III because it was so silly (and I thought stupid). For some reason though, I liked Vash from the beginning, and grew to really love him as the show went on.
But yeah, halfway through the series the humor mostly dries up and it DOES get serious. Episode 12, "Diablo." Yup!
I love this show a lot. I don't really watch enough anime to be able to tell if something looks old or not. The most recent anime I've seen (and am still watching multiple times) is Death Note, but that's not only newer, it's got a whole different style to the artwork than Trigun and even Cowboy Bebop had.

@MrsSpooky Who doesn't love Trigun? It is a classic! One of the all time greats!
Death Note is fantastic! L is my favorite character. Have you seen Full Metal Alchemist? If not I highly recommend it! Right now I am watching Eureka 7.

I have a friend who is having a hard time getting into it. She's not feeling any of the characters.
(weeps my darling Vash!!!). How can someone NOT fall completely in love with Vash? facepalms
I'm completely obsessed with Death Note. I'm a complete L fangirl, but Matsuda too. LOL. My sweet, simple-minded little puppy, Matsuda.

Vash is one of the best anime characters. I know he is a bit of a boy scout, but he is really deep, and very funny :). Hopefully your friend will start liking it.
The first episode of Death Note had me hooked! Some animes take me a few episodes before I am really into them, but that wasn't the case for Death Note

Vash is a complete boy scout (and the Scouts would be proud to have him
). Man, i so completely agree!
Yeah, Death Note hits the ground running, doesn't it? And it doesn't let up.

"I wanted to save both the Spider, and the Butterfly!" Great line. There is a lot too Trigun which most people might not notice with the first episode.
Death Note is top notch for sure. I can't wait to see it again!
I am trying to decide what anime to watch next. Right now I am finishing up Eureka 7. Which is really good by the way. The same voice actor who voices Vash voices the main character in Eureka 7.
Have you seen Wolf's Rain?

"I wanted to save both the Spider, and the Butterfly!" Yeah, that sums up Vash's personality, his reason for living, basically. And it did much to explain his behavior in the very earliest episodes - this goofy guy getting into all these dangerous situations, even warning the guys attacking him to 'look out.' It was interesting to see that he was a crier from the beginning, poor little baby. "There was a guy sitting there crying and eating donuts." If that doesn't describe Vash I don't know what does.

My problem with Death Note is I can't stop watching it. Major L and Matsuda fangirl. I love all the task force, and even Near. VERY interesting show and very funny too - the more I watch it the funnier it gets it seems.
I haven't seen Eureka 7, will have to check that out. Many people recommended Death Note and they were right, so because of that I'm quick to try out new shows.

You should see Toward the Terra. Done in 2007 and looking like if it was done in 1992.
But I don't think Trigun aged badly- like Cowboy Bebop, might not be super duper colourful and full of computer animation, but surpasses a fair amount of stuff done nowadays. -

Unicorn I haven't seen Bebop in about 4 years. Has it aged badly? I still thought that it looked good the last time I saw it
It has not aged badly at all.
I watch so little anime, I can't tell whether something looks 'old' unless it's with respect to the style of artwork. You know how certain things - artwork, clothing, music - go in and out of style? I'm wondering if these shows were just drawn in a style that was popular during that decade that is not in style now.
The only show I can compare them with is Death Note, which is VERY different, stylistically. I can't tell if it's just a different in style or the difference is in fashion from one decade to the next.
I'm not sure if that made sense. If anyone picks up what I threw down and can explain it better, please do! LOL

I can go with that MrsSpookyHowever Lupin definitely looks "old" and "dated"
Bebop is just a classic. Every episode was great! I need to re watch it sometime soon
MrsSpooky don't forget to check out Full Metal Alchemist! That is a great show! Thanks to Unicorn for telling me to watch it

I meant 'like CB is has not aged badly', perhaps I put it wrong.
But it did age, slightly. I have watched a few series out this season and while the plots have their ups and downs, the animation can be really superb now. But then if Bebop was made like this, it would loose a lot of its charm.

Agreed Unicorn! I feel that Bebop was filmed with a certain since of nostalgic classic feel to it. Kind of reminds me of the Noir genre. Actually Bebop embodies many different elements from different styles of film. Which makes it timeless for me. When I first saw Bebop I had no idea of the kind of worldwide following that it had. So I went into it with a unbiased mindset, and was stunned by it.

I just started watching Trigun: Badlands Rumble and looking at the animation here, yes, the series does kind of look old. At least, the artwork and animation in Badlands Rumble looks quite a bit more sophisticated than the original series looked.
Frankly though, I preferred how Vash was drawn in the series, but oh well. At least we have the original actors (if you watch it subbed - thankfully Johnny Yong Bosch is back as Vash in the dub, even if they did get a new Wolfwood. No clue about Millie and Meryl).
