I just saw this tonight, and LOVED it! I cannot think of another movie that had me as riveted throughout as this one did. And I will definitely be watching it again knowing what I know now.
I stumbled across this movie while looking for other recommended "similar" films on IMDB from another horror movie, but I can't remember which one. I am only glad that I found it, for I had never heard of this movie before.

I saw the DVD for only three bucks at a local Big Lots in Central New Jersey, so I decided to buy it.

I stumbled on it at Blockbuster years ago. But I was single and living alone back then. I actually got scared and turned it off. Finally when I was living with my ex, I got to see he whole thing.

My searching was done inside of IMDbase 🙂
I wanted to rate Time Crime film, so I checked out the main actor. And while looking at his past in movies, I noticed good title The Nameless, and of course I clicked on it. In the section -People who liked this also liked- I choose the movie Tesis, and in the same section (as mentioned above) was this title Session 9. 🙂
I love finding movies in particular ways 🙂

I was looking at IMDB for comments on the movie "Sanitarium" and someone commented that a great move taking place at a sanitarium was 'Session 9.'
Sanitarium was not good but then again anything with Lou Diamond Phillips and Malcolm McDowell in it these days should be avoided. So sad as once were both excellent actors.

A bundle of late-night showings on Showtime, way back when they actually aired the cream-of-the-crop of forgotten B-movie horror (and occasional masterpieces like this). Bought it on DVD a few years back and there's always something new detail to find in the film. And that's part of why it's among my all-time favourites.

I actually had heard about Danvers State Mental Hospital before hearing about the movie. I live in California, but we were discussing haunted places and this girl brought up the hospital. About a year or so later, scrolling through Netflix, I decided to watch the movie and then was surprised to see that it was shot at the place that she told me about.
So I came across this movie by accident, but already knew about the real location.

I saw the last few minutes of the film, when Phil started to loose his mind, and killed everyone one. It was it back on Starz when I was 11 or 12. It absolutley scared the hell out of me. It took me several years to find it again on TV, when I saw it again it was still disturbing.

I used to actively work on a horror community site where we'd discuss movies and this was on lists of movies I found. I never saw it until about three years after I initially heard of it.

I saw a few minor previews several years ago (minor because this film didn't get a strong push upon release since it's a horror film and has a very low budget).
Then over the years various horror podcasts, blogs & such mentioned & discussed it regularly. For post 2000 horror, it's one of the most well-known to genre fans.

I saw it available on Netflix and when I saw who the director was, I as intrigued. This is an interesting film that quietly invades your brain and makes you think about it for days afterwards.

Besides the last few minutes, I thought this movie was really weak. Disappointing.

I first found it through looking for other films made by the director of "The Machinist", good job I gave it a look too - despite being a bit low-fi it definitely had intrigue and a bit of that 'creep' factor. 🙂
