The writing sucked, the acting sucked

I loved this movie, but I do agree with several parts of your opinions. Emile plays the everyday clueless "nerd" and generates unneeded stereotypes. It's almost the stereotype that gets him in trouble ("banging a porn star in a cheap motel room" has its consequences obviously).
However, the movie got a 6.8 simply because of opinion. It happens. When on IMDB, I don't just put "THIS FILM SUCKS! WHY A 6.8!" without expecting any negative reaction. I always try to put facts or generate reliable statements in order to make a point.

Agreed, this silly rom-com wasn't good at all, and Elisha is a very mediocre actress. The only remarkable thing about this movie was Timothy Olyphant.
I laughed at a review entitled "Definitely Not Another Teen Movie". Those who like this flick are probably horny male teenagers who kept thinking "wow, I'm so jealous of that guy, this film is awesome".
Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too) -

Clearly you have no taste in films. This movie is a fantastic teen comedy in that it has excellent acting, great story, and very subtle smart jokes in it. Plus it's very honest. All of high school and still to this day those amazing nights with girls that change your life are what make life worth living. It's how your parents met, it's how people learn to show true love.. They go through these weird phases in their teens that's what this film represents. It shows what being a teen is all about in a honest, funny and solid movie.

I think the movie itself was pretty funny, but it siffered a bit from the fact that Matthew and Danielle were not funny.
(And why have a movie about a porn star who never gets naked on screen)
All the supporting characters were great, but Matt and Danielle were kind of bland. She was good looking, but bland. -

No more pathetic than you being on here, clearly wasting your time on a movie you hated, bashing it. At least the people that enjoyed it are spending thier time discussing something they enjoyed. You on the other hand are completely wasting your time on something you hated. Its very clear which one is more pathetic. You win!

The Girl Next Door
is better than other teen-orientated films. Though it does use some humorous cliches within its sub-plots, the main story arch between Matthew and Danielle has sincerity. At the beginning both are struggling with their sense of self, Matthew not wanting to feel restricted and Danielle attempting to better herself. Together Matthew and Danielle balance out this struggle, giving each other a new lease of life.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not. -

Couldn't possibly disagree more. For this genre of film, it was highly entertaining, with one of the best soundtracks in the history of films. In all honesty, this is one of the best teen style comedies I have seen the last 20 years running.

I don't know how you think the writing sucks. It is not only a pornographic movie. The parts that came into play were perfect. A little bit of this, then this and another. They don't only stick to one theme. But I still don't know how you came up with this, it's just not getting into me, but maybe it's just me. I gave it a 9.9, or rounded up to 10. Just to many or some nude scenes disturb me, but everything else was great.

I thought Timothy Olyphant did not a good job acting. You can help it that his line is that cheesy but making cheesy lines work is sort skillful.
Anyway, this post is 7 years old so considering they were young, they should be forgiven for their acting skills. Too bad that seven years later, those actors are either out of jobs or simply not improving in any way.
You knowthis movie is probably Elisha Cuthbert's best movie (or just the most popular one). Now that is pretty sad.
