pfft, Kath and Kim is great. And it's SUPPOSED to be 'shallow'. That's just how it is.

How can you say all this? Kath & Kim would have to be one of the best Australian TV shows! It is top-notch entertainment! Dont bag it!
Ps- Little Britain is my second fave show, its not a piece of crap like everyone is saying -

Top notch?
I guess that an unoriginal, humourless badly made piece of crap can go a long way these days.
First of all, the jokes are pathetic. I watched the first episode and found it VERY hard to sit through.
Gina and Jane just thought "Hey, the Australian public are idiots. We can recycle our last pathetic program 'Big Girl's Blouse', put a lot less effort into it, play ourselves, and convince the ABC, a pack of idiots who only care about money and not quality, that people will watch it.
Now, the story behind "Double the Fist" is better than any pathetic pissweak story the 'writers' of K & K could ever copy off another show.
Their own documentary sums it up perfectly, which is on their personal "Illegal and Unauthorised Volume 2 DVD", which they sold to me yesterday at "Supernova".
These guys were rejected by EVERYONE. No-one believed in them. Only ABC eventually accepted their offer because 2 people in the comedy department realised how great the show was.
The ABC only gave them $125,000 initially for an entire 8 episodes! I reckon Gina and Jane get that much each per episode at least. After scrounging around, the FTO and ABC again upped their budget to $230,000. But even so these guys were using money from their relatives and their own pockets to finance their show. They hardly had enough money left over for food and rent. They were working full time on this show.
ABC gave them the worst timeslot of the week, and it was even against "Big Brother Up Late".
When they went to the AFI awards, they were given one room between 6 people at the local hotel, and whilst Gina and Jane were given their own limo and driven to the red carpet, the DTF boys drove themselves and had to park elsewhere.
The enevitable outcome: Kath & Kim LOST the AFI for best comedy. Why? Because it's chosen by intelligent people in the entertainment industry who judge based on quality rather than popularity. That is why "Double the Fist" was the obvious winner.
Let's compare the two once again:
Kath & Kim:
recycled, cliched, badly writtern and acted, humourless crap that the Australian public seem to lap up.
Double the Fist:
One of the most original, hilarious, well made, over-the-top programs to ever come out of Australia.
Top put it in terms fistworthy people will understand:
Double the Fist: Full Fist
Kath & Kim:
NO FIST!

If ABC only care about money, then why are they not a commercial network?
Are you saying that people only watch Kath & Kim because it's "cool" and "vogue", not because they find it funny? Not because they think it is clever? And not because they can actually think for themselves? Yes, it is lamentable that the DTF crew got shifted like that, but Gina and Jane have been at it since the late 80's - early 90's and have a string of shows under their belt. I really doubt they'd get anything in the 6-digit range, that's preposterous. I've never watched Double The Fist and I admit, some episodes of Kath & Kim can be as unfunny as surgery, but the funny episodes are out of this world, and I must say, I feel sorry that you're so determined to think it is so horrible. Each to their own, I suppose. -

Have you seen some of the beep taking out the AFI awards? If this is the best oz has to offer then l would suggest closing down the industry downunder, or at least getting rid of these inane awards.
Haven't seen "Double the Fist", is this available on R4 DVD ? A quick check of the ezy would seem to indicate not. Maybe that should indicate something no? Even that puerile pizza rubbish is available to purchase.
Kath and Kim is social satire not out and out comedy, though if you track through the shows some of the one liners being fired off are simply outstanding
The show has found an audience in the older age group both in Australia and surprisingly in Britian. Good to see a non soap opera made down here actually selling overseas.
You are welcome to your own opinion of course, but you aren't likely to win many supporters with your attitude. You do realise there is a huge difference between comedy and social satire right? Clearly the AFI don't!

You have got to be joking! Double the fist is crap!If you are wondering why DTF had to compete with Big Brother Uplate, it is because it is the worst show ever and NOBODY besides YOU watches it. Kath and Kim rocks! It is funny and clever which is probably why you don't like it. THANK GOD Double the fist is not on anymore. Kath and Kim is one of the best Australian comedy series ever. This conversation is over, O-V-A-H!

Kath and Kim is one of THE funniest programs to come out of Australia. It means just as much to REAL aussie humour as does The Castle and Steve Irwin.
Anyone wanting to come onto a Kath and Kim page and rip into it can go get effed while doing the horizontal irish dancing! (OMG THE funniest episode- Obsession) -

Little Britain is quite possibly the worst show to come out of Britain in the last 5 years. None of their jokes are funny and they use the same ones EACH GOD DAMN EPISODE! That's just lazy writing.
Same about Kath & Kim. If I don't bash it, who will? Me and my mates must be the only people who realise what garbage this is.
Kath & Kim fans are just sore losers. When "Double the Fist" won the AFI, at the press conference after all they were asked was "What was it like to bea 'Kath & Kim'?". Practically every newspaper article attacked the fact that this "poorly rated show" beat the favourite.
I say rubbish! This show didn't win because it's crap. No-one understood DTF for what is was. And the only reason it got poor ratings was because no-one got it, and because the ABC gave it the worst timeslot of the week.
You know what, go ahead. Enjoy this garbage, ignorance is bliss afterall. Just remember that DTF IS a better show, and all the KK fans in the world can't change that fact. As I always say, popularity does not equal quality.

Why does everyone always resort to the "get a life" statement everytime they are proven wrong and can't think of anything witty as a comeback?
Suddenly anyone with an opinion different to yours doesn't have a life huh? So what you're saying is that people who don't like Little Britain don't have a life, right?
First of all, I didn't 'torture myself', I watched the first 2 episodes of Little Britain, then another episode down the track and saw that nothing had changed. Plus I had some free time and there was nothing else on.
Yes, we all have different tastes, but 'Little Britain' is still a recent example of lazy writing. I can accept that 'Little Britain' is not my taste in humour, but that is still no excuse to use the same jokes every episode.
When I went over to England in January this year to visit relatives, I heard people on the radio were still raving about it, using random quotes and even making prank phone calls using audio snippets from the show.
It just really annoyed me that such a bad show can have such high praise over there, whilst a brilliant Australian program like DTF is cancelled after it's first season because no-one believed an original, funny and well-made comedy could be popular.

Jeez man. I think 'get a lif meant' 'stop going on the pages of shows you hateand do something constructive'. You obviously just don't get Kath and Kim or Little Britain. That's fine, keep your opinions to yourself or other like minded individuals. How & when this turned into 'who's better, DTF or Kath and Kim' i guess I'll never know as i'm too lazy to scroll back up, but i urge, you, stay on DTF page and do what i'm presently doing to people who don't like the show, and then you'll see where I'm coming from.

Proven wrong? You really are a moron. Whether or not you enjoy a program is due to personal tatses and opinion. It isn't a right or wrong scenario. Just because you happen to be of the mind that a particular program is unoriginal or unfunny, doesnt mean that it universally is. If you cant work that out your either a complete imbecile or just laughingly pompous.
The reason DTF did poorly, and Kath and Kim does well, is because more people like Kath and Kim. Ie, what is liked sells, not a difficult concept is it?
Instead of just accepting that as an obvious part of the entertainment idustry, you have a big cry. Thats why people tell you to get a life. Its not that you dont enjoy the program, Im sure lots of people don't. Its your sad, pathetic 'dummy spit' method of conveying your view that makes you look a complete loser.
And as for DFT Time slot? Oh poor babies Ever heard of the Late show? Exceedingly popular program that performed at a simlar timeslot. Botrtom line is it was high quality, as a result people found it. They didt care what time it was on.
So crappy little DTf didnt rate. Maybe next time they should make a program that actually appeals to enough people to be worth putting on TV.
waaaaaaaaahhhhhh. Get over it numnuts. -

Sometimes I have to sit back and wonder why I am scrolling through these posts when I could be doing something more valuable with my time. To the guy that just keeps going and going and going and going on and on - slandering Kath and Kim by comparing it to a British sketch show - buddy, let it go. I think people just need to be more accepting of each other's tastes. 'Little Britain' might not be you favourite show on the boxso don't watch it, man.
I think 'The Office' is one of the greatest tv shows ever to be produced, and still (i work in a dvd store) i hear customers crap on about how it's unfunny and slow and blah blah blah - but i bite my lip and keep on working coz it's THEIR opinion and who am I to say anything? I live to fight another day
As for the whole 'Double the Fist' comments made previously - they seem very, very bitter and I am thinking to myself - is this guy some disgruntled writer or associate of the show?
Andapparently the ABC are just money-hungry etc. - (coughs) the last time I checked, the ABC is a government-funded free-to-air tv station - not like their rivals at TEN, SEVEN or NINE
I think 'Kath and Kim', 'Double the Fist' and 'Little Britain' are all TV shows that have attracted wide audience appeal and gained cult-like status, kudos to them. Even if a series doesn't gain their audience immediately, the advent of the DVD TV SERIES has led to the cult revival of many overlooked tv shows that's my bit (and to think, I don't even write in these posts)

Wow. Maybe you should give up on liking comedy. You already lost me at Kath and Kim not being hilarious but then put the final nail in the coffin by calling Seinfeld boring and unfunny. Maybe comedy as a genre is not your thing.
