Does any other show end so strongly?

I'd say no finale is as consistently amazing throughout the entire episode as The Shield's.
Six Feet Under's is certainly on par thanks to the excellent final 15 minutes, which were breathtaking.
If you can get over the fact that it's an anime, Cowboy Bebop and it's finale is one of the best things I've ever watched. Haunting, beautifully executed, emotional as hell. Ended perfectly.
It hasn't ended yet, but due to how strong the last 4 and a half seasons have been (and the season finales are always 10/10 episodes for most review sites), I fully expect Justified to end as one of the best ever.

Thanks for the reply. I really do have to watch Six Feet Under.
I'm in 2 minds with Cowboy Bebop. Having got a few episodes in, there were things about it I liked. But the silliness really put me off. It jarred for me. Silliness in anime tends to leave me cold for that reason. And most anime shows tend to do the quirky humour bits that I just don't find funny. So far the only anime I've loved is Death Note. I should try Cowboy again, though. I've heard before it gets better as it goes on.
Again, I'm in 2 minds on Justified. I tried the 1st couple of seasons. I appreciate the show is good and I enjoyed it. I also really liked Olyphant as the main character. But the show as a whole bored me a little. I'm not sure why. I think westerns don't gel so much with me. I felt the same after seeing Deadwood. I could appreciate it was very good. But I didn't enjoy it that much.
Good recommendations and thoughts, though. Useful stuff.
If it helps, my favourite shows so far are: The Wire. Breaking Bad. Game of Thrones. The Shield. House. Firefly. True Blood. Buffy. Death Note. Homeland. Walking Dead. Dexter. Rome. Misfits. Sons of Anarchy. (Yes, I know some of those shows are unfinished or have bad endings. Just throwing out the list to show the sort of stuff I really enjoy.) -

If you liked those shows give Banshee a try.
I haven't finished it yet (4 seasons - I'm halfway through 3) but it's been a hell of a ride so far.
The Shield is far and away my favorite show ever. The writing, the directing, the acting everything was amazing. Nothing else has even come close imo. -

Maybe I should give Justified another try.

I think you should as well! You won't regret it.
The first few episodes are rocky, but the exceptional dialogue and acting should be able to keep you satisfied. The last few episodes of S1 and the Bennett family storyline in S2 is where the show gets amazing.

LOVE SFU's ending. Mind-blowing and tear-jerking.
Shield is a close second, though I would rate the show itself as more worthy of a watch.
SFU will not appeal to everyone - plenty of quiet, reflective moments and family drama. I love those kind of shows anyway, so the creative ending was a HUGE bonus. -

I love Justified, but I thought the ending was really mediocre. A lot of the choices made in that finale didn't sit right with me.
I think Breaking Bad had a really complete finale. Everything came together in those last couple of episodes, or fell apart rather. -

There were things in Lost I really enjoyed. Some great wow moments. But I felt it really dragged on. And yes I'm one of the people who hated the ending.

Good call on Next Gen. I've only ever seen bits and pieces of the show. Would love to watch it start to finish. Especially if it ends strong. -

They should have rewrote Ozymandias slightly to tie up some loose ends and just have that be the ending. Kill Jesse in the desert with Hank, then just have Walt run off with the new identity guy. Perfect.
