I kind of see why it gets so much attention because it represents Brent at his most ridiculous (although you need the context of the first dance to truly understand the joke). However it isn't the high point of the series for me. For me the funniest moment and my favourite episode is Brent speech to the team at the start of series 2 climaxing with him doing the Basil Fawlty funny walk.

@JimBallard Pretty much any scene with Keith, but if I had to pick one, it's in s02e02, when Brent is assessing him, and Keith couldn't give less of a sh_t.
Brent asks, Do you feel you are given the flexibility to decide how best to accomplish your goals?" and Keith just sits there chewing gun and staring at him. That moment kills me every time. -

For me, the scenes at the community center, series 2, ep 4, Motivation are hysterical. "I'm just getting into yoga."
When the guy is taking his photo "backstage" and he's doing poses, haha!

The scene in the first episode of series 2 when David Brent is given two dressing downs in the space of half an hour by Neil and Jennifer, first for telling a racist joke then seemingly advocating drug use. Hilarious and they really highlight just what an idiot Brent is.

LOL, "THERE'S BEEN A RAPE UP THERE", and the look on the training guys face, was priceless. There's just too many though. "Oh for beep sake", when his blind date turned up, that whole episode where he dressed and acted like Neil,and the blind date segment on the Christmas special to name a few.

When stephen merchants character is involved:
"lets grow ourselves a big lanky goggle eyed freak!" then him saying its astigmatism which "makes the eyes a bit bolbous" and he pushes his eyes out a bit god it cracks me up! -

Keith's assessment is hands down the funniest scene in the entire series imo.
Having said that, anything involving Keith is funny. I know several people who act like Keith which makes it all the funnier to me, definitely my favourite character. In one sense I wish they'd used him more, but I guess if they had it may have been overkill and lost the humour. Oh well! -

Yeah, definitely one of the best visual gag in the series.
It's impossible for me to pick THE standout moment of The Office. There's too many classic scenes and subtle jokes to exalt just the one.
