ehhhh.that's a tough call, but although it may be less `'technical" satie's music moves me just that little bit more.

While I like Satie's innovation and originality, the overall output of Debussy is far more meaningful, in my opinion.

Debussy has more great pieces than Satie, but I think that Satie's "Gymnopedies No. 1" outdoes all of Debussy's music. Even if I prefer that one piece to most of Debussy's music, Debussy still wins just for having a larger amount of great works.
The heart has its reasons, which reason knows nothing of.

Satie.
His music is more enigmatic than Debussy's. Personal, brooding, delicate.

Definitely Erik Satie, the father of ambient music! I feel his music is more innovative, diverse, atomospheric (at times), and evokes all emotions depending on the piece. As far as pianists who interpret Satie (I've hear them all), I would go with Jean-Yves Thibaudet; he plays Satie with perfect timing (many pianists play Gymnopdies robotically & too fast too slow) and great feeling.

I like both of them, but for me Erik Satie's music is more magical if you know what I mean. Also Satie is like underground artist in comparision with Debussy
