Has there been an official R1 Blu-Ray release?

Tried looking for the film on Blu-Ray, expecting to be able to pick up a R1 copy for less than $10, and the only copy I can find online is a Region-free version that costs about $20. I was pretty shocked since most films of the early 2000's can be picked up on Blu-Ray for next to nothing online.
Was there never a proper R1 Blu-Ray release? Hopefully if not, there will be one with the new film coming out

Curious, is an R1 exclusive superior to region-free? I would have assumed that locking regions would always be of less benefit to the customer.
I can't say much for the prices now, but man it's worth it. The original Blu-ray transfer is excellent. The color timing is a bit greener than the theatrical release, but with everything being toned around water, I think it works well with the original blues that they pushed. Fine detail, though. Highly recommended, even at $20.
The Ring Two never came out on Blu-ray. I can't imagine that they will release a Blu-ray combo pack with the other two films, but if they do I'd say your best bet is they skip Two completely and simply repackage the original region-free BD with Rings.
But who's to say? Paramount has done these kinds of things before. You'll be waiting until June though

I wasn't trying to imply R1 was in some way superior to region-free releases. Sorry if there was any confusion. I was more asking in regards because I was confused about the supply and pricing of the limited Blu-Ray copies I could find for sale online, which start at $20 for a
used
copy.
I'd have assumed that given the film's popularity, it probably would have gotten an official R1 release, or some other wide release which in turn shouldn't cost that much now to pick up given the film's age. I typically only pay about $5 or so for most Blu-Ray films I buy that are more than a few years old. And that's both in-store or online. Heck, the other day I picked up 5 Blu-Rays of films that were mostly less than 10-years-old and only spend about $20 for all of them.
As much as I love this film, it's a little crazy to have to spend what I'd pay for a brand-new, new-release movie (and I've also gotten new 4K and 3D combo-pack releases for the $20 range) for a used copy of a 15+ year old film. I'd rather just stick with the old DVD I picked up years ago until there's a cheaper High-Def release.

Got it. Yeah, I loved buying used from goHastings but they are now out of business. I picked this one up brand new day one from Best Buy, likely around $14.99 or so. Normally the rare breeds certainly get more expensive as you are seeing now.
Wish I had another copy of it to ship over to you, R1 or otherwise. Sorry to say that I do not. Definitely worth having in the collection though, so maybe if you have the DVD you can hold onto that one just a few months longer and press your luck then?
Speaking of The Ring Two (or I was, at least), as much as I'm not really a fan of it, I still wish they made and released a Blu-ray of it.

Honestly, I'm sure
The Ring
will get re-released and
The Ring Two
will get released on a High-Def format eventually. (Even if they skip standard Blu-Ray and are just released in 4K or some other format) Even if it isn't for a number years. It'd be foolish for the studio not to, given their status and the fact they were both decent money-makers.
At this point, I'll probably just sit on my DVD copy for now and keep an eye out for a cheaper used copy or see if they do get any sort-of re-release. I wouldn't even mind if it was just a bare-bones release. They're both gorgeous films (even if the second one is flawed), and deserve to be viewed in HD.

Unfortunately, "a few years back" does a lot to the supply of an item. Checking Target's online site, not only is the pricing now $10.99 (which is not bad), unless it's available locally in store, it is not available for shipping.
