Cheap ending. Saab car goes 110 mph after over heating and quick fix which got cut short. 57 Caddy doing a long fall off a cliff or mountain side. Wasn
t that cold and aninch of snow doesnt kill power. To many holes in this movie. -

I agree, come on, when they saw those deers tied to those trees, I thought "man this is gonna be wicked!!"
It's a shame:(

I think the reason for the whole chase wasn't that exciting, but, first of all, it makes sense, and second how many of you thought this could be the reason ? I'm sure not many, so this reason was a good choice after all.
Anyway, I liked the movie a lot. The atmosphere was great, scenery was good, acting was very good. A very well executed movie. I really think it's underrated -

I thought the ending was alright all things considered. This is a great movie and it must have been hard for the director to figure out a decent ending but I am satisfied. They could have made the people in the black cadillac out to be be aliens or supernatural but this would have been out of place considering there were no supernatural elements in the movie. The big plus with the ending is that it gave Randy Quaid a chance to be in the movie some more.

Yeah, the ending was just a little weak for my taste too. Like a lot of people here, I guess I was expecting the black Cadillac to have something to do with a dark deed committed in their past (In one of the scenes where CJ and Scott are talking, I felt for certain the film was alluding to this) and that perhaps it would have some sort of supernatural or paranormal component as well, due to how well the Cadillac seems to recover from damage (Granted, though, they knew how to build stuff to last back then) or how it seems to know where they are at all times. Still, I would definitely rate this as one of the best road thrillers I've seen in a while and will certainly take another look at it.

Yeah, I thought it was a letdown as soon as we saw who was driving the car. It took away the 'Duel'-like vibe of the anonymous menace.

Yeah the ending did kind of kill all the suspense and mystery that came before it. When they revealed it was just the Sheriff and his brother all along it was kind of a buzzkill because the movie up till then had hinted at something more sinister, perhaps even supernatural. I think it would have worked better if the guy in the Caddy had just been some random psycho messing with them.
