True, but KISS's downfall was this cheesy disco song (and the ill-fated 'Dynasty' album from which it came- and the solo albums) and made for TV movies like KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. They went from being a cool hard rock band earlier in the decade to being a ****ing gimmick that would do anything for a buck with mostly tweenage fans in the late 70s. It took them a while (a few albums at least) to regain their stature as hard rock icons in the early '80s. Creatures of the Night (1982) was a comeback of sorts and good hard rock/metal album to boot.

Peter only played Dirty Livin' on Dynasty with the rest of that album being a session drummer filling in. He saw what was happening and was the best case of last-in-first-out in music followed quickly by Ace.
Still all pretty rock and roll, but it was a massive dent to the band's reputation which couldn't have gone any higher at the time.
Paved the way for a lot of heavy metal and whatever Bon Jovi, Stryper and Guns'n'Roses are

That was the first KISS album I owned when I was a kid (I already had Gene's solo LP which I loved). I probably listened to it every day when I got home from school circa 1979-1980 but I forget most of the songs by now except "I Was Made For Loving You" and "Charisma".
Double Platinum became my favorite and most listened to KISS album.
Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't.
